Can we talk about pour-over vs French press for daily use

I know everyone in this group seems to swear by pour-over for the clean taste, but I went the other way about 8 months ago. After 3 weeks of testing both methods side by side with the same beans from a local roaster, I picked a French press as my main brewer. The body and mouthfeel just win for me, even if I get a little silt at the bottom of my cup. I timed it too, the French press takes me 4 minutes flat versus 6 for a careful pour-over. Anyone else stick with a method that most folks here seem to look down on?

Have you tried letting the French press steep a little less time to cut down on that silt? I did a similar thing with a Moka pot, and I get why you went the other way. The texture from the press is just so much more satisfying for a morning cup. I think people get too caught up in what's trendy and forget that a messy cup can still taste great. You're not alone on this one.

My French press and I have a complicated relationship where the silt is the third wheel that just wont leave. @the_kim I once tried timing it with a sundial and it still came out looking like mud. At least the gritty stuff reminds me Im awake.
