Bought a $6 dripper at a garage sale in Boise and it beat my $200 setup
Stopped at a garage sale on State Street in Boise and grabbed a beat up ceramic pour over for $6 just to have a spare. Tried it the next morning with the same beans and grind I always use and somehow the cup tasted sweeter and cleaner than my normal rig. My wife watched me do a side by side test like a crazy person twice before work and I still can't explain it. Anyone else had a cheap random pickup out brew their gear, or am I just bad at using the expensive stuff?
That cheap ceramic probably just has a smaller hole so the water sits longer and pulls more sugar out of the grounds, your $200 rig might be draining too fast. Or the thing is cracked and leaching something weird, so congrats on your mystery flavor.
