Serious question, did anyone else quit trying to learn an IDE and just use a plain text editor first?
Last month I spent 3 evenings fighting autocomplete errors in VS Code on my Hello World script, then switched to Notepad on a whim and finished a little tip calculator in about 20 minutes. I always figured an IDE was step one for learning, but now I'm not so sure it isn't just noise for a total newbie. What did you all start with, and did the fancy editor actually help or just get in the way?
