A guy at the IMTS booth in Chicago showed me one dial trick and my scrapped parts dropped to almost zero
I was watching a live turning demo last month and he zeroed his offsets with the spindle running instead of stopped. Cut my warm-up scrap from 6 parts a shift down to 1, has anyone else tried touching off with the spindle spinning?
I always shut the spindle down for touching off, figured that was just how it's done, but a guy told me the same thing last year and I blew him off. Finally tried it when we were fighting a bad warm-up drift and my first part of the shift actually holds size now. Feels wrong the first few times but the numbers don't lie.
