I tried to photograph a sunset mammatus cloud with my phone's auto mode, and it totally washed out the color.

I learned you need to tap the screen to lock the exposure on the brightest part of the sky, or you just get a gray blob. Anyone have a better trick for phone cloud pics?

Gray blob" is my phone's default art style for anything more exciting than a wall.

Actually, I think it's more like a "beige rectangle." My phone makes everything look weirdly soft and boring.
