Friend said my lenticular cloud shots were too dark and boosted the shadows, now I feel like they look fake
They told me the clouds should pop more so I cranked the exposure in Lightroom but now the pics look overprocessed and I can't tell if I'm ruining the natural feel or making them better, anyone else struggle with this editing balance?

The same thing happens with music, people keep turning it up until the distortion ruins the original feel.

People forget that the best photos aren't always the brightest ones - same way a story with no conflict isn't interesting. Trust your original eye before someone else's idea of "better" ruins what you actually captured.
