Drove out to the desert near Joshua Tree last weekend and every single cloud looked the same

I went out there hoping to see some wild lenticulars or something interesting but it was just flat gray stratus from horizon to horizon for like 3 hours straight. Has anyone else had a spotting trip totally flop because the weather just refuses to cooperate?

Yeah, "totally flop" pretty much sums up my luck with spotting trips too.

Count me in on that club for sure. I swear every time I think I've spotted a flush draw coming in on a flop it ends up being a total dud. Once I had this beautiful hand where I was sure the flop hit me perfectly, bet big, only to watch the turn and river completely miss me. It's like my brain sees what it wants to see instead of what's actually there. I've lost count of the times I've been convinced I was up against a set or a straight only to be way off base. Makes me feel like I'm just playing a luck based guessing game half the time instead of actual poker.
