Serious question, did I waste $2,200 on a used Nissan Leaf or did it actually save me?
I bought a 2015 Leaf for $2,200 back in March and I keep going back and forth on whether it was dumb or smart. My commute is 22 miles round trip so the range works fine, and I charge it overnight for maybe $30 a month instead of the $160 I was spending on gas. But the battery has already lost 2 bars, and a shop in Reno quoted me $850 just to look at the cell balance. I figure I'm still ahead about $900 since March, but if that battery dies this winter I'm eating the whole thing. Does anyone here run an old EV and actually come out ahead, or am I just fooling myself?
