Sold my bulky mower and grabbed a reel one, now my Rocky River lawn takes 20 min
Small win but I gotta share it. Last month I finally ditched my old gas push mower for a manual reel one I found at a garage sale over on Detroit Ave for $35. I timed it today and my whole front and back yard off Wagar took 20 minutes, versus 45 with the loud one, and no gas runs to the Speedway on Clifton. Also way less trimming since the reel gets right up near the beds. My neighbor on the corner said his reel cut cleaner so I tried it and he was spot on. Anyone else switch and notice the cut looks better after a couple weeks?
Curious how the lawn looks after a few weeks with that reel. My old gas mower always left these ragged tips that turned brown, and I heard a reel slices the grass like scissors so it heals faster. Did you have to change your mowing routine at all, like cutting more often since a reel works best when you just take a little off the top? Also wondering if you drop the height different than you did with the gas one, since those beds near the edge probably need a set pass.
