Hot take: I parked at the Avon Lake library for 3 weeks before I read the sign
I work downtown and ride the 55 in, so I figured the library lot on Electric Blvd was fair game since I never saw anyone towed. My neighbor Dale finally asked me at the mailbox why I keep leaving my Civic there overnight, and I told him it was free parking. He pointed at the sign 20 feet from my usual spot that says permit parking only, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. I walked over and read it, and yeah, it had been there the whole time. Three weeks of rolling the dice on a tow that would've run me $185 plus the impound fee. Now I park at the municipal lot by the water and walk the extra block. Does anyone know if the Bay Village lot off Dover ever fills up on weekdays?
Notices that kind of thing all the time, honestly. People stop seeing what's right in front of them once a routine kicks in, and a parking sign twenty feet away turns invisible after day two. Same reason folks drive past their own exit on the highway or miss a new stop sign on a street they take every day, the brain just files it under stuff I already know. Good thing Dale said something before the tow truck beat him to it, because those Avon Lake lot guys don't mess around once they start checking. As for Bay Village off Dover, weekdays it stays pretty open until mid morning, but I'd still read whatever sign is posted there first, just saying.
