My new fiberglass inspection rod got stuck in a flue in a 1920s bungalow

I was pushing it up a terra cotta liner and it just wouldn't budge past a certain point, felt like it hit a lip or something. Anyone know a trick for this, or should I just stick with my old steel rods for these older chimneys?

That 1920s flue probably has a ton of mortar droppings built up over the years. Honestly, I'd just give the rod a sharp twist and pull back, it's likely not a big deal. Tbh, fiberglass rods get stuck way easier than steel on that old rough surface.

Been there, that's the worst.
