My 20 foot ladder broke at the worst time in Kalamazoo last Tuesday
I was on a two story colonial in Kalamazoo last Tuesday, about 20 feet up, when the fly section of my old fiberglass ladder just gave out at the rung. I heard a crack and next thing I know I'm hugging the chase and my brush and rods are raining down into the shrubs. Turns out the rivets had rusted through, probably from sitting in my truck bed through a wet spring. I had to call my buddy Dale to bring his spare, and we finished the flue at 2pm instead of 10am like I planned. Back in the 90s we ran wooden ladders that lasted decades, now these fancy fiberglass ones fail on you in five years. Any of you still use wood, or am I the only one thinking about going back?
Man that's rough, glad you're okay after that crack sent you scrambling! I've been wondering the same thing about wood ladders lately, seems like the old stuff just held up better.
