Wife and I tried to copy that free museum night idea from a TikTok, and the line ate our whole evening
Heads up for anyone planning a free museum night date. We showed up at the art museum in Portland at 5:45 for the 6pm free entry and the line wrapped around two blocks. We stood there for 70 minutes and got in with only 40 minutes left before close. By then my feet hurt and we just speed walked past everything to say we went. Next time we're doing a Tuesday at 11am or just packing a picnic instead. What free nights near you actually work without the wait?

The Portland Art Museum free night is actually the first Thursday, not any evening.
