Everyone puts Lucky above the rest but the leprechaun is honestly the weakest mascot and I can prove it with his own words
Tbh I used to buy the whole Lucky being the top dog thing until I actually sat down and read through 14 old Lucky Charms comic book ads from 1993 to 1997 that a guy in Dayton scanned and posted for free. In almost every one, the leprechaun loses the charms to a bunch of kids within like two pages, and then he just shrugs and hands over cereal. That is not a rival, that is a guy giving up on purpose. Compare that to Cap'n Crunch, who at least keeps a crew and a ship and does not fold the second some 8 year old asks nicely. The popular take is that Lucky is this clever trickster who runs the whole cereal game, but the actual ads show him getting outsmarted in under 90 seconds every time. I think people are mixing up how much they like the marshmallows with how the story actually goes, and those are two different things. Has anyone else gone back and read those old ads, or am I the only one who thinks the leprechaun is way overrated in this community?
