That fancy $80 cat coffee table book was a total bust
I picked up a big glossy cat photography book at a used bookstore for $80, thought it'd be a cool conversation piece. Got it home, flipped through, and every single cat was either sleeping or staring at a wall, zero action shots. My friend Dave came over, looked at two pages, and said 'this is just cats being boring.' Should have saved my money for a real photo book or just scrolled Instagram. Anyone else get burned by a pricey cat book that was all hype?

and you could have spent that same $80 on something that actually has energy, like a nature book about predators hunting. those sleep-and-stare cat books just feel like someone photographed their own lazy house pet for 200 pages and called it art. i've seen the exact same thing at thrift stores for $5, and even that felt like a rip-off because nothing happens on any page. the worst part is that people act like these books are high art when they're really just a commercial for cat food companies.

Bought a $60 book of "artistic cat portraits" once and it was literally just close ups of cats sleeping in laundry baskets with weird filters on them. Felt like I paid for someone's weekend hobby project.
