Went to a carpet supplier in Denver last Tuesday and saw something I hated

They were telling every customer that glue-down carpet is always better than stretch-in for basements. I've been doing this 12 years and I think that's dead wrong unless you've got the perfect slab. Anyone else see suppliers pushing one method too hard?

...and then they just shrugged and said "our techs see it all the time"? That's wild. I had a supplier in Phoenix try to tell me glue-down would handle our monsoon season humidity better than stretch-in and I almost laughed in his face. Glue traps moisture underneath, you get that tacky delamination smell after a few months if the slab isn't sealed perfect. What did they say when you asked about vapor barrier requirements for their glue-down method?

Did you push back on their moisture testing claims?
