Took a flier on that $15 seam roller with the rubber wheel, now I won't touch my metal one
Was doing a commercial job in Tulsa last month and the rubber one smoothed out a stubborn seam on berber that my metal roller kept making visible, so has anyone else ditched the classic tool for something that seemed gimmicky at first?

Funny how often the cheap fix beats the expensive one. Same thing happens with kitchen knives, guys spend 200 bucks on some fancy blade and end up reaching for the 12 dollar one from the flea market because it just works better on tomatoes. Or golf, dudes drop 500 on a new driver and still slice it into the woods while their buddy with the yard sale club out drives them. Sometimes the tool that looks like a gimmick got designed by someone who actually solved the real problem instead of just copying what everyone else does. Price and tradition don't mean much when the rubber wheel just plain works.
