Told the homeowner I'd stretch the Berber myself or bring in a power stretcher, and I picked wrong
Last week I got a 40 yard Berber job in a rental over on Franklin Ave and the homeowner told me the last guy just kicked it in with a knee kicker to save time. I told her I could do the whole upstairs by hand and keep the price where she wanted it, which was $1,150 for labor. Big mistake, because that Berber fought me on every seam and I ended up with wrinkles at the hallway turn two days later. I went back and rented a power stretcher for $45 a day plus the tax, and it pulled those wrinkles out in about 20 minutes. My knees are still sore and I lost money on the trip back out there. Now I want to know, do you all just price a power stretcher into every Berber bid or do you only bring it out when the room is over a certain size?
