Skipping my pre-work stretches for a carpet job gave me a nasty back strain and set me back two days

Using heat on a fresh pull can pump more blood into the area and increase swelling. Ice it right from the start to calm things down, like 15 minutes on and off. Those floor twists might feel okay but they often just move the pain somewhere else. Taking a whole day off lets everything get stiff, so some careful walking is smarter.

Heat the strain for 20 minutes at a time to ease the tightness... then switch to ice packs. I learned the hard way after a similar pull last year. Gentle twists on the floor help too, but don't push it. Take a full day off even if you feel better, or it'll come back.

People forget about hydration for muscle recovery. A pulled muscle needs water to fix itself, not just hot or cold packs. Drink a full glass of water every couple hours. Dehydration makes everything tighter and slower to heal. It's a simple thing that gets overlooked.
