I swore by screws for cabinet frames until a glue up in a garage in Phoenix humbled me
Last month I was building a set of upper cabinets for a buddy's shop and one of the face frames split right at the screw line when I snugged it down. The wood was kiln dried mesquite, super hard, and I had my impact driver on setting 2 like an idiot. My old boss used to say glue is the joint and screws are just there to hold hands till it dries, and I always figured that was old man talk. I pulled the screws, cleaned out the split with a chisel, and re-clamped it with just Titebond and a couple dowels. Two weeks later that frame is rock solid. Anybody else here trust glue over fasteners on hardwoods or am I late to the party?
