Had a talk with an old timer about work pace and it stuck with me
Was on a job site last Thursday with a guy who's been framing houses since the 80s. He watched me rushing through cutting rafters and just said "slow down, you're making more work for yourself." I brushed it off at first but then I noticed he was actually getting done faster than me with way fewer mistakes. He told me he learned that lesson after he caught his thumb with a circular saw back in 1992 and had to take 6 weeks off. Has anyone else had a younger helper they had to slow down or am I just getting old?

My neighbor's a concrete guy who's been at it since the 80s too. He told me the exact same thing after watching me try to muscle through a driveway pour. He said the guys who rush are always the ones who end up redoing spots or getting hurt. I see it in the gym all the time with beginners trying to lift too heavy too fast. It's a solid lesson, rushing just costs you more time and energy in the long run.

Yeah the gym comparison really hit home for me too.
