Ditching chalk lines improved my cut quality

I stopped using chalk to mark long cuts on plywood. Now I score a line with a knife and a metal guide. The saw blade tracks better and I have less waste. Everyone on site says chalk is faster, but my pieces fit right the first time.

No way your pieces fit right the first time.

Right? I mean, I've never had anything line up perfectly on the first try either. @henry312 has a point about the material being off sometimes too, idk, maybe it's both.

Why assume human error when material flaws are COMMON?
