I thought hiding salary details was the right move, but a team talk shifted my stance
My old manager always told us to keep our pay to ourselves, so I did for years. Then a guy on my team found out he was paid way less than others doing the same stuff, which felt wrong. After a few of us compared notes and brought it up, they adjusted the pay scales to be more even. Now I get that being open about this stuff can actually help everyone out, lol.

Managers love that "keep it to yourself" line. It's like they're worried we'll find out the intern makes more than us. Once we started talking, it was a mess of confused HR emails and sudden "market adjustments". Now we have a spreadsheet going, and somehow everyone's a bit less grumpy before payday. Who knew transparency could be less work than all that secrecy?

Read a study that backs up Thea's point completely.

That study might back it up, but Thea's story sounds like a best case scenario. In a lot of places, that kind of talk just stirs up bad feelings without fixing anything. It can make people focus too much on small differences instead of the actual work.
