I paid $400 for a resume rewrite service and it was a complete waste

After getting no calls back for months, I shelled out for a 'professional' service. They gave me a generic, fluffy two-page resume that looked like a template. I sent it out for two more months and still got nothing. Has anyone had a good experience with a specific person or a better way to fix a resume?

That really sucks, sorry you got burned like that. A lot of those services just churn out the same stuff for everyone. Maybe try a free workshop at a library or career center instead.

Actually, some of those free workshops use the same basic templates too. The real problem is that most resume advice, paid or free, is way too generic. It needs to be specific to your actual field to work. A tech resume and a teacher's resume should look totally different, you know?
