Unpopular opinion: the cheap open transport guy on Facebook did a better job than the enclosed carrier I paid triple for
3 years ago I paid $1,850 to ship my Camaro from Phoenix to Seattle in an enclosed trailer, and the driver showed up 4 days late with a cracked front lip he claimed was already there. Last month I needed my daily driver moved the same route and went with a guy off Facebook Marketplace for $600, open trailer, no deposit, and he texted me photos at every stop. Car arrived spotless in 2 days and he even waited 20 minutes while I found an ATM for the balance. I get that enclosed makes sense for a show car, but for anything under $30k I honestly don't see what the extra grand is buying. What's your actual horror story with a broker, because I'm starting to think the cheap guys are the honest ones.
My brother went through a broker for his Tacoma and it was a nightmare. They subbed it out to some random driver who didn't show for a week, then wanted another $200 cash at delivery or he wasn't dropping the truck. My sister used a Facebook guy for her Civic last year, $450 open trailer, and he actually answered his phone and sent pics at every stop. The fancy companies just charge you for the name and then hand your car to the same random drivers anyway.
