The broker in Dallas told me 'everyone lies about pickup dates' and I can't stop thinking about it
I shipped a car from Dallas to Seattle back in March and the broker on the phone said something that stuck with me. He laughed and said 'everyone lies about pickup dates, so I just add 3 days to whatever the driver tells me.' I thought he was joking until my driver showed up 4 days late with zero calls. The thing is, the car got there fine and I paid $850, which was fair, but that one line made me realize how broken the whole scheduling side is. Has anyone found a broker who actually gives you straight answers, or is this just how it works now?
The line about adding 3 days to whatever the driver says is honestly the most honest thing that broker ever told you, and that's the sad part. The dude basically admitted the whole thing runs on guesswork and nobody bothers to fix it because the cars still show up eventually. A day early is a miracle, on time is a coin flip, and late is just Tuesday. You got your car and paid a fair price so you came out ahead, but yeah, straight answers in this game feel like finding a parking spot in downtown Seattle at noon.
