Update: I was sure my new $30 camp stove was a total waste of money
I bought it on a whim at a store in Boise before a trip, thinking it looked too cheap to work right. After three nights of cooking in the Sawtooths, it boiled water faster than my old one and never once sputtered in the wind. I'm honestly shocked at how well it held up. Has anyone else had a budget piece of gear completely prove them wrong?

Come on, you just got lucky. That thing is a safety hazard waiting to happen. Cheap metal can fail fast under real heat, not just a few boils. I've seen those stoves crack or leak fuel after a couple more trips. Saving a few bucks isn't worth risking a fire or ruining a meal in the backcountry. Good gear costs more for a reason, it's built to last. Your three day trip isn't a real test.

Used to agree until mine survived a rough winter trip.
