Just realized most tent ratings ignore real wind gusts, found it after a storm in July
I was checking the specs on my 3-season tent after a gusty night at a site near Flagstaff and noticed the wind rating was tested at a steady 30 mph, not the 45 mph gusts that actually hit us, so how are we supposed to trust those numbers when picking a shelter for mountain weather?
