Dropped $85 on a JIS screwdriver set for my Nikon F2 and it saved me from stripping 3 screws
So I've been fixing up this old Nikon F2 I got at a garage sale in Sacramento for 40 bucks. The screws on the bottom plate were stuck and I almost rounded one out with a regular Phillips. I read somewhere that Japanese cameras use JIS screws and a normal Phillips will strip them. I said screw it and spent $85 on a set of JIS screwdrivers from Amazon. Best money I ever spent. First try, the screw came right out with no damage. If I had kept going with the Phillips, I would have been drilling out that screw and probably ruined the body. Now I use them on every repair. Has anyone else switched to JIS and noticed a huge difference? Or am I late to the party?
