Why does nobody warn you about the wall plate hole being too small for two HDMI cables?
Spent 4 hours last Saturday trying to fish two HDMI cables and a power cord through one of those old work boxes behind my TV. The hole in the drywall was cut for a single coax plate from 2008 and it was maybe 1.5 inches wide. I kept jamming the fish tape in there and it would snag on the insulation every single time. Ended up cutting the drywall bigger with a jab saw at 7pm and making a mess of dust all over the carpet. My wife walked in and just looked at the wall and left. Went back to Home Depot the next morning for a 2 gang low voltage bracket and a bigger plate. Total job should have been 30 minutes. Took me two days and a patch job. Is there a trick for figuring out the actual clear opening in old work boxes before you start pulling cable?
