Used to twist ties together with my bare hands, now I own 4 sizes of velcro straps
Back in 2011 I had a desk in a corner apartment in Madison where every cord got the same treatment: a twist tie from a bread bag, twisted tight until the wire bent, and after about 6 months the plastic coating on my monitor cable cracked right at the bend. Switched to velcro straps around 2016 and never looked back, mostly because I could undo one to swap a keyboard without cutting anything. The real turning point was zip ties though. I zip tied everything behind my TV for 2 years and then had to move the router 6 inches, which meant cutting 14 of them and starting over. Now I keep a little box with 6 inch, 8 inch, and 12 inch velcro plus a roll of that gaffer tape. What got you off zip ties, or are you still team zip tie in 2024?
