3 years of stapling through coax before a tech in Fresno showed me the light
I used to staple every single line tight to the stud, thought that was just how it was done. Then back in 2021 I was on a job in Fresno with this old guy named Ray who watched me for about 10 minutes and said 'you're choking that cable, son.' He showed me how loose staples and a little slack at the bends keeps the signal clean, and I've had way fewer callbacks since. Anyone else get taught the tight staple way and have to unlearn it?

Oh man, my buddy Dev went through the exact same thing. He was stapling coax so tight to the studs you could strum it like a guitar, and he could not figure out why his internet kept dropping on the far end of the house. His brother in law, who does this stuff for a living, popped one staple loose with a screwdriver and showed him the cable had a literal dent in it from being pinched. Dev redid every run with a little breathing room and a gentle curve at the corners, and his problems went away pretty much overnight. Funny how the old guys always know, and it takes a stranger watching you for ten minutes to point out what you have been doing wrong for years.
