TIL a $60 dovetail jig can pay for itself in one kitchen job
Bought a cheap dovetail jig about six months back for a set of drawer boxes on a small kitchen refit in Rochester. I was ready to hate it, since my hand cut dovetails are decent and the jig felt like cheating. Turned out I knocked out 14 drawers in one afternoon and the joints were tighter than what I was cutting by hand. That one job covered the cost of the jig plus the bits, and now I use it on anything with more than four drawers. Curious how many of you use a jig for the routine boxes and save hand cutting for the show pieces.
