Picked hardwood ply over MDF for a kitchen job and still second guessing it

Used to be all about MDF for the cost savings and the smooth finish. Every kitchen job I did, I'd talk myself into it because it's cheaper and paints up nice. But after the last two MDF jobs where the edges swelled from a little steam and a leaky dishwasher, I switched to hardwood ply. That extra money is just insurance against having to rip out a whole cabinet run in two years. Never going back now.
