My drawer fronts went from gappy to dead flat after one change in my shop in Fresno
For about 8 months my drawer fronts kept coming out with a slight gap at the top corner, maybe 1/16 inch, and I just lived with it and blamed the plywood. Then in Fresno I finally checked my tablesaw sled for square with a dial indicator and found it was off by .008 over the length of the cut. I shimmed the fence with a strip of brass shim stock and now every front sits flush when I dry fit them. Has anyone else chased a gap like that and found it was the sled and not the material?
That .008 over the length of the cut is the whole ballgame. A dial indicator on the sled is the move, most guys just eyeball it with a framing square and call it good. I chased the same gappy corner for a month and it was my sled fence, not the plywood or the blade. Fix the sled first and you stop blaming the material.
