Hot take: our backup DSL line did nothing during a 6 hour outage at our shop in Boise
Last Tuesday around 9am the main fiber line at our print shop in Boise dropped and stayed down for 6 hours. I figured no big deal, we have that backup DSL the provider sold us, so I switched the router over. Pages barely loaded, our card terminal timed out on every sale, and two customers walked out. I called support and the guy said the backup line was "best effort" and only meant for a couple devices, which nobody told us when we signed up. Now I'm wondering if anyone here runs a real second line instead of these backup add-ons, and what you actually pay for it.
