Pro tip: I picked a $9 hostel bunk in Lisbon over a $22 hotel room, and here's how the 4 nights went
Last spring I had 4 nights in Lisbon and my budget was tight, so I had to pick between a $9 hostel bunk in Alfama or a $22 private room near Rossio. I went with the hostel to save $52 total, which covered my food and a tram pass. The first night was rough because 6 guys in my room all snored, but by night 2 I had earplugs and made friends who showed me a free walking route. I spent maybe $14 a day on food since the hostel had a kitchen and free breakfast. The private room would have been quieter, but I would have missed the group that took me to a $3 fado bar. Has anyone else picked the cheap bunk and regretted it, or did the savings win out for you too?
