Why does nobody talk about how long rice actually takes to cook on low heat?
I spent like 3 years cooking rice on high heat because I thought it was faster and I was impatient. Last week my stove burner was acting up so I had to cook it on low for 25 minutes instead of my usual 15. The rice came out perfect for the first time ever, not mushy or burnt on the bottom. I honestly felt kinda stupid when I realized I'd been rushing it and ruining meals this whole time. Has anyone else had a basic cooking habit they only fixed by accident?

Man I did the exact same thing with pasta. Always boiled it on high and wondered why it was gluey. Then one time I got distracted watching something and left it on medium low for like 12 minutes instead of 8. Mind blown.

Betty Wood (@betty144): Glad I'm not the only one who learned pasta the hard way, @riverknight.
