TIL my 'cheap' bulk rice was costing me more than I thought

I used to buy the giant 20-pound bags of white rice for $8, thinking it was the ultimate budget move, but after a month I realized we were throwing away a cup of cooked rice from every pot because it got clumpy and weird. I switched to buying a 5-pound bag of jasmine rice for $6 that we actually finish, and my waste dropped to almost zero. Has anyone else found that buying a smaller amount of a better ingredient saves money in the long run?

Ever buy a giant thing of salsa just to watch it turn?

My friend had that exact @lindagreen warehouse jar turn into a chunky horror movie prop in his fridge door.

Oh man, the big jar from the warehouse store... it's a trap. You get excited about the price per ounce, but you're just committing to a science experiment. Mine always gets that weird, separated water on top after a couple weeks... such a waste.

Ugh, I just started putting the whole jar in the fridge right away.
