My slow cooker's heating element gave out mid-pot roast

Everyone says these things last forever, but mine quit after just 18 months. Had to finish the roast in the oven, which spiked my electric bill by $15 last month. Anyone have a reliable brand that won't die on a budget meal?

Mid-pot roast" is the worst time for it to die. My old one did the same thing right before a big family dinner.
