Canned beans finally won me over after my 3rd failed rice and beans night
I always thought dried beans were the only budget way to go. Soaked them overnight, boiled for two hours, still ended up with crunchy centers and mushy outsides three times in a row last month. Finally grabbed a 79 cent can of pinto beans on a lazy Tuesday and honestly the texture was better than anything I made. Plus I saved about 90 minutes of active kitchen time. I still like dried for chili where they break down anyway, but for quick weeknight meals I'm converted. Anyone else ditch the soaking ritual for canned after repeated failures?
