Why does nobody talk about checking swap spreads on Fridays

I spent months watching my broker's daily margin calls bounce around for no clear reason. Last Friday I looked at the swap spread data before the 3 PM close and spotted a 6 basis point jump that explained everything. My guy at the desk never mentioned this, and neither did any of the review sites I read. Now I check it every week before touching any position. Has anyone else found a market indicator that the fancy reviews completely ignore?
