Wasted a full day on a cheap mortar mixer from a big box store

Picked up one of those $200 mortar mixers from the home improvement place last spring thinking I was saving money. It threw a bearing after mixing just three bags of type S mortar on a job in Akron. Anybody else had bad luck with those economy paddle mixers?

Ain't it funny how saving a few bucks upfront can cost you twice as much in the end? Seems like every time I try to cut corners on tools or anything else, it just ends up a bigger headache down the road. These days I'd rather pay a bit more for something that'll actually hold up.

Yeah but sometimes cheap stuff works fine if you know what you're buying.
