Had to rebuild a whole chimney in Duluth after a bad freeze last winter

The mortar joints on a job from three years ago failed completely, just crumbled in my hands. Turns out the old crew didn't use any frostproofing mix, and that Minnesota cold got into every crack. I spent two full days last month tearing it down to the roofline and starting fresh. How do you guys handle repointing or rebuilds when you find someone else's bad work?

See that all the time with cheap fixes. People skip the right materials for a quick, cheap job, and the next guy gets to do it twice. It's like when a mechanic uses the wrong oil filter, or a landlord paints over mold instead of fixing the leak. The shortcut always shows up later for someone else to handle.

Ever notice how this cheap fix mindset spreads? It's not just repairs, it's everywhere. Schools buy the cheapest textbooks that fall apart in a year. Companies use flimsy software that crashes daily. They save a buck now but waste ten later fixing the mess they made.
