That time my avocado pit experiment went horribly wrong

I remember trying to grow an avocado tree from a pit years ago, following some old book advice to toothpick it over water. It sprouted nice roots, and I got so excited about having my own tree. But when I planted it in soil, I drowned the poor thing by watering it every day, thinking more was better. Back then, we didn't have quick internet tips to check, so I just went with gut feeling and messed up. Now, I see videos showing the right way, and I laugh at my old self for being so clueless. It's wild how much easier plant care is with all the info online these days. Still, that failed avocado taught me to go slow with water, which helps even with my night shift chaos, lol. Sometimes the hard lessons stick with you the most.

Avocado needed a life raft, not a flood.

Sometimes a flood helps things grow.

My friend did the same thing but with a cactus, of all things. She was so sure it needed tons of water because it looked dry, and she basically turned its pot into a mud pit. The thing just melted into a sad, mushy blob after a week. It's funny how we all seem to learn that watering lesson the hard way with some plant or another.
