Gave up on Dune 40 pages from the end after 3 months of pushing through, and I feel weirdly free

I read Dune in high school and skimmed the last 100 pages just to be done with it. Herbert spends so much time on politics and desert talk that the story gets buried. You pushed through 3 months and still couldn't finish, that says more about the book than about you. Walking away from a book that feels like a chore is the best thing you can do. There are too many good books out there to waste time on one you dread picking up. Enjoy the freedom, you earned it.
