Hot take: My boss handed me a 320 page book on a Friday and by Monday I was a different person about spreadsheets
So my manager at the insurance office in Akron gave me this book called The Phoenix Project on a random Friday in March. I rolled my eyes hard. 320 pages about IT stuff, not my thing. But I had a long bus ride and nothing else, so I cracked it open Saturday morning. By Sunday night I was sitting at my kitchen table at 11pm rethinking how our whole claims team works. Two weeks later I pitched a change to how we hand off files and cut our backlog from 40 open items to 12. The book did not make me cry but it messed with my head in a good way. Has anyone else read a work book that snuck up on them like that?
