I was at the Hardesty Regional Library in Tulsa two Saturdays ago just returning some stuff, and the librarian at the desk pulled a thin paperback off her cart and slid it across to me without saying much. I almost left it there but she gave me this look, so I took it home and finished it in one sitting. It was about a family losing their house, and the last chapter hit me so hard I sat in my driveway with the engine off for 20 minutes. I never would have picked it myself, and now I keep wondering what else I've skipped because it wasn't on my list. Has a librarian or stranger ever pushed a book on you that ended up wrecking you?
