Hot take: a scrap of wax paper under my glue pot fixed the corner lifting that kept wrecking my case bindings
I kept getting corners popping up on my case bindings about a day after pressing, and it drove me nuts for about 6 weeks. I tried more PVA, less PVA, longer press time, heavier boards, even wetting the turn-ins a touch, and nothing stuck. Then a binder at the shop in Springfield mentioned she keeps a sheet of wax paper under her glue pot so drips don't bond to the table, and I figured why not put a strip of it right under the corner while the glue sets. Turns out it was the moisture from the pot fogging the air near the bench and my turn-ins were picking up just enough damp to curl. Since I started laying wax paper over the corners for the first 20 minutes, I have not had one lift. Cheap fix, dumb simple, and I am still a little mad I did not think of it earlier. Has anyone else had a humidity or damp issue at the bench that snuck up on them like that?
