Cowhide covers looked gimmicky, now my favorite rebinds are from old leather jackets
I passed on a box of used leather jackets at an estate sale in Dayton for months, figured it was too much fuss. Finally grabbed one for $8 and after a single practice run, the texture and weight beat any new hide I'd bought. Anyone else reusing old clothing leather, or is that a one-off win?
Read somewhere that old leather jackets have a tighter grain since they're already broken in, which makes them way easier to work with than fresh hides. Scored a worn bomber at a flea market last year and it wrapped cleaner than anything I've bought new.
